It can be difficult to prove this, so keep detailed information about all of the claims that they make. It is important to take the time to keep a record of all transactions that you have with the bad debt recovery company.
While there are some companies that are ruthless, most of the bad debt recovery companies are willing to work with you to improve the debt situation you are in considerably. There are many times when you just need to talk to them to determine the best way to repay the debt. Let them know about financial problems you are having and be clear on what you can do and what you may not be able to do.
